Transneft has selected Sepura's TETRA handportable and mobile radios for its operational staff to manage 50,000 km oil of pipeline network. In the challenging environment of Russia and the CIS it is vital that communications links can be guaranteed. Temperatures can drop to as low as -50 degrees Celsius and operational staff may be many kilometers from the nearest TETRA base station. The Sepura terminals were selected after extensive trials in the harsh environment. The contract was won in conjunction with Compas+Radio, one of Sepura's distributors for Russia and the CIS. A key factor in the winning of this order was the expertise and skilled support supplied by Compas+Radio's staff working alongside the users at their remote sites. The Sepura terminals are unique in being able to meet two key criteria. Firstly, they are the only rugged TETRA terminals that are able to display and transmit Cyrillic text. Secondly, both the mobile with 10W output power and the handportable with 3W output power provide better network coverage than any other rugged TETRA terminal on the market.
